TFN – If you are vacationing in the Lake Okoboji area this weekend you are invited to worship at the Okoboji Sunday Celebration Service at 10AM on Sunday morning at the Methodist Camp Tabernacle. The services are sponsored each week by area Christian Reformed and Reformed Churches and will run each Sunday through Labor Day.
06/20 – More than $11,000 in donations and luminary sales were turned in during the final bank night, this past Monday, for the 12th Annual Nobles County Relay For Life. This years Relay will be held this Friday night on the Nobles County Fairgrounds in Worthington,
Cancer survivor registration will be from 5PM until 6:15PM and there will be a survivors reception in the hockey arena from 5:30 until 6:30. The opening ceremony will begin at 7PM and will include musical performances by Mark Loosbrock and the Southwest Chordsmen, speeches by honorary chairman LeRoy Merkel and guest speaker Denise Blomberg of Compassionate Care Hospice, the introduction of cancer survivors and a butterfly release. The luminary lighting ceremony will be at dusk. 19 teams are participating in this years Relay and the hope is that by Saturday morning, more than $75,000 will be raised. The public is invited to attend and take part in all of the events.
06/21 – The Westminster Presbyterian Church invites the community to their Annual Old Fashioned Drive-In on Saturday evening June 21st from 5PM until 7PM. Grilled hamburgers, hot dogs, brats, chips, root beer floats, and lemonade will be served by the car hops.
06/23 – The Worthington Area YMCA has SOME openings for its last FOUR remaining 2-week summer sessions of Youth Swim Lessons for ages 6 and up! Lessons are being held at a variety of times. Participants attend 8 classes Mon-Thursday at the same time for 2 weeks. Next session begins June 23rd!! There are also openings still available in the second session beginning July 7th. 06/26 - The Southwest Minnesota Chapter of the American Red Cross will hold its Annual Meeting on Thursday evening, June 26th, at 7PM at the Prairie Holdings Center in Worthington. The meeting will be held in the Theater and will recognize board members, donors and volunteers from Martin, Murray, Nobles, Rock and Pipestone Counties. Bob Meyer, CEO from the South Central Chapter will be the guest speaker. Everyone is welcome.
06/27 – The 22nd Annual Quilt Show and Auction will be held on Friday and Saturday June 27th and 28th At Shetek Lutheran Ministries in Slayton. There will be fun for the whole family with quilt viewing, demonstrations, display’s, live music, food, and more including door prizes. For more information call 507-763-3567.
06/28 – The Nobles County Farm Bureau invites the community to the 2nd Annual County Breakfast on the Farm on Saturday June 28th at the Nobles County Fairgrounds from 8AM until 11AM. Enjoy a free breakfast of pancakes, sausage, milk, juice, and coffee, meet Princess Kay, plus exhibits and activities for the kids including a petting zoo. Bring the whole family to this agricultural awareness event.

07/09 – The 16th Annual Healthcare Benefit Golf Classic will be on Monday July 14th at the Worthington Country Club. The tournament will be a 4 person, 18 hole, scramble. The entry fee is $50 per golfer and proceeds from the tournament will go to the Worthington Regional Health Care Foundation Scholarship Program. The entry deadline is Wednesday July 9th. 07/10 – The Worthington Regional Hospital will be offering Prepared Childbirth Classes in a four session Thursday evening series through July beginning on Thursday July 10th in the hospital classroom.
